Lei Zheng is a Professor at the School of Geospatial Engineering and Science, Sun Yat-sen University. His main research focuses on snow/ice remote sensing, cryospheric surface process modeling, and polar climate change. He has participated in China’s 38th Antarctic Research Expedition. He is the PI for several research projects including the Excellent Young Scientists Fund project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and General/Special Grants from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. In recent years, he has published more than 60 SCI-indexed papers in international journals, including Nature Climate Change, Remote Sensing of Environment, Geophysical Research Letters, etc. He led the development of China’s near-real-time ice sheet monitoring system based on domestic satellites, and supported the release of annual ecological environment reports from Ministry of Science and Technology. His important research results have been selected as the research highlight by the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
